I am the spazziest of spazzes. I completely forgot to do an October in review post in October. And it wasn’t even like I wrote a post to explain that I was at my parents’ house so as to not be at my house on Halloween. Whatever. Better late than never, right?
- Take better care of myself. If the key word here is “better,” which is the way I’ve interpreted it all year, then I failed. I was eating pretty well until the day I decided to buy two bags of Halloween candy and two types of Klondike bars, but I was pretty darn sedentary. It can’t be healthy to sit as much as I do.
- Read every day. This always makes me feel better after admitting what a bad job I did of taking care of myself. The lesson, of course is that reading is fun and taking care of myself isn’t.
- Blog every day. Another fun resolution to keep. Which, again, explains my success.
- Work on my house. On January 1, 2012, I envisioned putting my house on the market in December. On November 4, 2012, I can’t envision any way that would be possible. And that pretty much says everything you need to know. Oh, and again, this resolution is the opposite of fun.
Blah. I almost feel like I can’t give myself credit for being good with respect to the fun resolutions given how terrible I’ve been with the other two. Oh well.
In other news, I got my COMPS results back. I passed 🙂 I will be able to graduate. That is pretty awesome. Also awesome is the fact that my parents supported my anti-commencement ceremony decision. Some things are going my way. Yay!
Also, I figured out how to deal with my post-baseball malaise and get the most out of my MLB.tv subscription: watch archived games! I can watch them on my iPad and my Apple TV. It’s fantastic. I can relive awesome moments and just ignore the shitty ones 🙂
I turned in my COMPS paper with 54 whole minutes to spare! Go me 🙂
I celebrated by getting lunch at Panera. Then I spent the afternoon getting caught up on some TV shows (TV network apps that let you watch on your iPad are the best) and watching Snow White and the Huntsman. I didn’t watch the debate, though (but Twitter gave me the idea that I would’ve enjoyed it more than the first one); I had baseball on TV but paid more attention to Twitter during the debate. I probably need to stay off Facebook for another 24 hours, though.
The thing that sucks about COMPS ending is that I have to get back to real school now. Boo.
I finished the first draft of my COMPS paper a few hours ago. Well, I say “first draft,” but let’s be honest, I’m not going to make more than cosmetic changes to it. It’s just not how I work. Plus and also, I really wouldn’t have time to make major changes before noon. And the paper will just be graded pass/fail. Yay 🙂
So, yeah, COMPS is almost over. Hooray!
In other news, I’m so glad that these icky Super PACs have raised millions of dollars to bombard me with so many lies. (Have you guys ever lived in a swing state? It’s the best.) It’s not like that money couldn’t have gone to do actual good or anything. Kill me.
Why, oh why, is my COMPS paper due at noon on Tuesday?? Noon!
This is me starting to get worried about getting it done on time.
You have a nice day.
So my pre-graduation comprehensive exam begins tomorrow at noon. It’s a 12-page, perfectly referenced and formatted paper that answers one of the questions that will be revealed to us tomorrow. I’m really very excited about it. Ha.
We have a week to write the paper, so expect short posts from me in the interim. But I can’t tell you how much it sucks that COMPS (all-caps = scary) are during the League Division Series. I don’t want to research and write papers under the best circumstances and there’s going to be so much baseball to watch. So much baseball.
If you want to send me good vibes for COMPS, I’d greatly appreciate it 🙂
